DNE Wizard
by Ken Knight

Now works with Win2k!

PLEASE READ THIS!!!

The following points apply points apply to the use of this patch so read carefully.

  • This is meant to correct the problem on a machine that had high speed downloads before installing winproxy and then after installing winproxy the downloads were 40-70k (around dial-up speed).

  • This has NOTHING to do with your upload problems.  That is a Starband Corp issue.

  • Again, if you DID NOT install winproxy and see your download speeds drop to dial-up speeds then DO NOT run this fix.

  • DO NOT treat this as a tweak, thinking maybe if you install it, it just might give you a couple of extra kilobits in speed.

  • It also does not correct problems that were caused by the "Updaters" from Starband's web site.

Many of you who have downloaded the latest version of Winproxy only to find after you installed it, your speeds on both the machine connected to the 360 and all your clients went to less than or equal to modem speeds.

Myself along with many others spent quite a lot of time working on a resolution to this problem.  I'm pleased to release this potential fix for the problem.

This wizard take less than about 3 minutes to implement and once you reboot your computer afterwards, your speeds should be back up to normal.

This is a 3 step wizard.  The first step has you completely shutdown Winproxy.  The second step is to backup your current configuration.  The third step makes the necessary changes to your system to correct the problems. Lastly reboot.

I can't guarantee that this will correct your particular problem, however, I can say that at this point I've tried this on three machines and it has worked each time.

Update
If you try this potential fix, how about dropping me an email of your success or failure to kenknight@starband.net . Currently the success rate is 100% from all that have sent emails.
