MCService What's new! - This version works with the latest version of mission control from Starband. Mission Control 3.x was supposed to install itself as a service, however, it's been reported to me from several that it's not working correctly, thus this program will correct the problem if you're encountering it. The only visible change between this version and the version prior is the label in the service manager is SBU_MCService_30 instead of SBU_MCService_17. The installation instructions remain the same otherwise. For all of those who've been having problems with XP, Win2k and Non-Administrative user accounts AND XP's switch user feature... here is a fix for it. MCService installs as a service on XP and Win2k (mainly written for XP). What it does is run Nettgain and the RPA as a service, thus allowing all users to have equal access to the accelerated tcp when these are functioning. IMPORTANT NOTE: Install this service while logged in as an Adminstrator. INSTALLATION Download the setup file from the site here and accept the defaults all the way through. At the end of the setup, it will ask if you want to install the service. Just leave this checked and click the next button to finish the installation. At this point we need to go into the Control Panel in windows and double click on Administrative Tools. Next double click on Services. Scroll down until you see the SBU_MC_Service item. Select it and then click the start button on the toolbar (looks like a play button on a vcr). You will also want to make the RPA_Service that is listed just above a "Manual" start item. Now close your services and control panel windows down and restart your machine. That's it. You should be up and running at full speed regardless of whether someone is logged in or not and also regardless of the user's current permissions. Click here to watch "How-To" video If you're running Mission Control 2.x click here to download. If you're running Mission Control 3.x click here to download. Requirements: You must install the server on a 360 connected machine while logged in as a user with administrator rights. Note: you must be a member to download this software. You are not allowed to distribute this software. |
