Troubleshooting "Accelerator Down"
on the 360
by Ken Knight

Ok folks, here's the deal on what I've encountered with the "accelerator down" problem.  While we might at first want to jump on the "it's Starband's problem", it actually turns out to be a problem of left over junk in the registry under the network adapters section.  This causes the install not to bind to the appropriate adapters.  So what we end up with is the Starband installation process finding a problem on the local PC which causes a problem for the Starband installation.

This appears to be happening on the 2.0.1.9 versions of the CD and prior.  So here's what we're going to do.  I'm going to give you a 12 step potential fix for the problem.  I use the word potential for two reasons;

  1. There's no guarantee it'll fix the problem but it should.

  2. You're going to be messing around in the registry, which is a dangerous place to be, so proceed at your own risk.

Ok, now... you did get the part about "proceeding at your own risk",  right?

Now, what you want to do is download the pdf and print it out.  Follow this step-by-step and hopefully after you're done, you'll be cruising the highways at full speed once again.
