Overview
Ositis, the maker of Winproxy, has
developed an extensive setup section for installing Winproxy on
Starband located here.
Or you can watch a step-by-step video by clicking here.
When installing Winproxy, you'll
be required to have to network adapters (otherwise known as
"NIC's") in the computer connected to Starband. One of
these adapters could very well be a USB adapter, depending on which
connection interface your 360 is connected to the computer with.
These two adapters are assigned
"Internal" and "External" IP addresses. The
Internal adapter will be the one that sees all of the other computers
on the network in your home. The external adapter will be the one
that sees the Internet. The external adapter will
"automagically" be assigned it's IP address by Starband.
You, on the other hand, will need to assign your Internal adapter an
IP address manually. This IP address needs to be a
"non-routable" address. Below are several examples of
non-routable addresses.
192.168.0.1 thru 192.168.0.254
192.168.1.1 thru 192.168.1.254
10.0.0.1 thru 10.0.0.254
Do you see the pattern here? In
most cases, you'll probably find that 192.168.0.* addressing scheme
used the most. This is probably because Microsoft chose this scheme
for it's ICS product which is built-in to Win98SE and above.
